A self-taught artist Poulomi Desai explores the world through participatory, collaborative working processes evolved through research, learning and action, through which she seeks to expose the hidden, the discrete and the unfashionable. Originally inspired by a street theatre background, her tools are performative, textual, photographic and acoustic.

Desai set up and curates Usurp Art Gallery and Studios the only contemporary art gallery in Harrow. Her work has been exhibited internationally including at The Serpentine Gallery London, The Queens Museum New York, The Oxford Gallery Kolkatta, and The Photographers Gallery London.
