In contrast with subject-centred accounts that are dominant in humanities discourses, Inigo Wilkins will talk about how a scientific understanding of incomputable randomness or radical contingency offers a wider conceptualization of artistic and musical uses of noise. Rather than becoming a generic gesture of transgression and excess he argues that contemporary noise artists are exploring unpredictability across many orders of magnitude.
Anticipation and Unpredictability will be presented by Inigo Wilkins at
THE PROPHETIC SOUND Thursday 7th February 2013.
