At the PROPHETIC SOUND Ryo Ikeshiro will perform Third Construction in Self. The piece emphasises performativity and liveness of digital sound through the use of an audiovisual algorithm based on a Mandelbox fractal and the performer’s interaction with it. The generative program amounts to something more akin to a machine than an instrument, and the performance consists of an attempt at understanding and controlling its mechanisms. Both the audio and the visuals are generated from data obtained from the fractal in real-time, and hence the resulting glitch/noise is represented in the visual domain in a parallel manner.
