Long Night Long Stones

Long Night Long Stones is a soundscape by Edinburgh-based artist Siân Landau. This new work that marks the Winter Solstice is a 17 hour and 3 minute long exploration of the depths of the earth during the longest night of the year. Starting at 3.39pm (the time of sunset in Edinburgh) on Thursday 21st Dec, listeners will be able to tune into a live broadcast of the work on EHFM at any time throughout the night, to the point of solstice at 3.26am and beyond, until the sunrise at 8.42am on Friday 22nd Dec.

Inspired by the geological concept of Deep Time, and the significance of sites such as Holyrood Park that helped develop understandings of the land as we know it, Landau uses a mixture of field recordings and synthesized sounds to imagine what the layers of time beneath our feet might sound like.
